Cheems, the shiba inu behind 'cheemsburbger' and 'bonk' memes, passes away amid cancer battle
Cats and dogs have both brought us many iconic memes over the years, and the pup behind one of the most recognisable viral images – Cheems the shiba inu – has passed away, his owner has announced. Cheems, real name Balltze or ‘Ball Ball’, was popularised online for his love of cheeseburgers or a “cheemsburbger”, and appeared in “Swole Doge vs Cheems” and “bonk” memes too. He was not the pup behind the ‘doge’ meme, however – with that being a shiba inu named Kabosu who, despite reports in December 2022 that she was critically ill with leukaemia, is still smiling away in adorable photos on Instagram. In their post to the social media platform on Friday, Balltze’s owners confirmed Cheems “fell asleep” during a surgical procedure known as thoracentesis, which concerns the removal of fluid or air from around the lungs. He had been battling cancer, with his owners hoping to arrange chemotherapy following the surgery. The owners wrote: “Don’t be sad, please remember the joy that Balltze brought to the world. A shiba inu with a round smiling face connecting you and me, he has helped many people during the pandemic and brought a lot of joy to many of you, but now his mission is completed. “I believe he is running freely in the sky and having a lot of delicious food with his new friends. He will always be inside my heart. “I hope he can continue to bring joy to everyone in the online world, that’s my only humble request.” Tributes soon poured in for Balltze, with Twitter/X users resharing some of their favourite memes of the beloved pup: https://twitter.com/PupperNelson/status/1692848881095111118?s=20 https://twitter.com/RealSpikeCohen/status/1693120280225362193?s=20 https://twitter.com/ManuelNFTs/status/1692937774955925565?s=20 https://twitter.com/babywhalegg/status/1692929323353755831?s=20 Rest in peace to a very good boy. Model has Maui fundraiser shut down for offering to sell spicy images to donors
Model has Maui fundraiser shut down for offering to sell spicy images to donors
GoFundMe has deleted an OnlyFans model's campaign after she offered nudes to anyone who donated $10 to Maui wildfire victims. Mariah Casillas, also known as 'Lavaxgrll' had created a GoFundMe to help raise money for those in Maui who have been affected by the wildfires that have tragically claimed up to 100 lives so far. In order to raise as much money as possible, Casillas offered to send nudes to anyone who proved that they had donated $10 or more to her campaign. It seemed to be working as Casillas managed to raise over $6,000 in just a couple of days, but GoFundMe removed the campaign. Meaning that all the money raised went with it, too. In response to GoFundMe's move, Casillas took to social media to reassure fans that she was not going to let it stop her from raising money. "GoFundMe took down my account but that isn't going to stop me from doing what I can to help the people of Maui," she wrote. "I'll be making a list of nonprofits to donate towards instead, you can still send me your screenshots!" It seems that GoFundMe took down Casillas' campaign as it violated its services that state GoFundMe can't be used to raise funds if they involve, "offensive, graphic, perverse or sensitive or sexual content." In order to keep raising money, Casillas has moved her fundraiser to OnlyFans telling subscribers to "drop your donations on my pinned post and let's get to work." On Wednesday a GoFundMe spokesperson told FOX Business that its platform had raised over $30 million for the communities needing support in the aftermath of the wildfires. iShowSpeed escapes YouTube ban despite showing his 'meat' on camera
iShowSpeed ended a recent stream suddenly after accidentally exposing himself to fans live on air. The hugely popular figure was broadcasting to 24,000 people when he accidentally flashed the camera, looking shocked after realising what he’d done instantly. The streamer, real name Darren Watkins stood up, showing his crotch, not realising that his penis was exposed while playing the game Five Nights at Freddy's. “Oh my god,” he said, before immediately ending the stream. The moment sparked a big reaction on social media and became an instant meme. Some have speculated that the YouTuber could have his account banned for the incident, with the platform’s policies prohibiting content that includes “the depiction of clothed or unclothed genitals, breasts, or buttocks that are meant for sexual gratification”. However, TMZ has since reported that YouTube will not ban Watkins despite the infringement. It comes after iShowSpeed has opened up about the health crisis that saw him rushed to hospital, saying that he “almost died”. The influencer was in hospital for weeks after being taken to a Japanese hospital in July for a sinus infection which caused a "deadly headache”. The influencer, real name Darren Watkins Jr, previously posted footage of himself with one eye closed and the other severely swollen. His followers have been showing support for the 18-year-old, with fans previously arriving outside of his hospital in Tokyo. Marriage proposal at Super Mario World goes viral for Luigi's reaction
A marriage proposal at Super Nintendo World has gone viral online due to the character Luigi’s hilarious reaction. Fans of the Nintendo games have been able to enjoy the Super Nintendo World theme park at Universal Studios in California since it opened in early 2023. For one superfan, he decided it was the perfect time and place for a wedding proposal and the clip was shared online after being caught on camera. In the video, a man and woman could be seen standing between the dressed-up characters of Mario and Luigi. He got on one knee and opened a ring box to pop the question. While the character of Mario displayed the appropriate level of excitement by mimicking a look of excitement and shock, the Luigi character simply stood there with his hands on his hips. When Luigi noticed what was going on, his reaction was still fairly muted and it has left viewers in hysterics. @bellabelli260 #nintendoworld #supermario #proposal #universalstudioshollywood #engagement #happilyeverafter #engagementring #supernintendoworld #mariobros #california #hollywood #supernintendoworldhollywood #supernintendo #peaches #mario #luigi #engaged One person commented: “Luigi: I do not see it.” “Luigi did NOT care,” said another. Someone else wrote: “Luigi not noticing till later is cannon.” Another commented: “LUIGI IS SENDING ME.” Others commented on the sound effects in the background that come from the Super Mario Bros video game. One TikToker argued: “Can you imagine being proposed to and in the background Mario is just blabbing about 'its Mario time!’” Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Who is Ed Mylett? The man who claims he has '21 days a week'
A man has left the internet baffled after claiming he has 21 days in a week and people are confused. Ed Mylett has gone viral for a second time after a clip from a podcast appearance on Impact Theory with YouTuber Tom Bilyeu went viral on X (formerly known as Twitter). The clip encapsulates hustle and grind culture perfectly, as Mylett claimed he had more days in the week than everyone else and explained his bizarre logic. He explained: “My day is 6am to noon, and I’m not crazy. You’re crazy for thinking it takes 24 hours, just like some dude in a cave did 300 years ago.” Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter While his maths and history might be questionable, Mylett continued, explaining, “My second day starts at noon and goes til 6pm”. He explained that 6pm until midnight counts as his “third day”, meaning over the course of a normal 7-day week, he actually experiences 21 days. It’s fair to say that users on X (formerly known as Twitter) weren’t quite as convinced by Mylett’s logic. “My favourite part of this clip is that he thinks the 'caveman era' was 300 years ago,” wrote one person. Another argued: “You can take the lad out of the afters but you can't take the afters out the lad. “All these former beak heeds turned entrepreneurs have swapped chatting s**t at 5am in some randoms kitchen for a podcast studio.” Who is Ed Mylett? Mylett is a YouTuber, podcaster and entrepreneur. H enjoined the World Financial Group (WFG), a financial planning company, in 1992. He has since used social media to grow a following by speaking about his career, and giving life lessons and advice to aspiring entrepreneurs. Have your say in our news democracy. Conspiracy theories insist new Tiffany Gomas apology video isn't her
Conspiracy theories have taken over the internet since the "not real" American Airlines passenger, Tiffany Gomas, released an apology video in which she addresses the incident from 2 July. To recap, the 38-year-old marketing executive from Texas went viral for her rant on board, where she claimed a fellow passenger wasn't real. "That mother f**ker back there is not real," she said at the front of the plane while pointing towards her seat, which has since gone on to become an online phenomenon with TikTok trends, merch – and conspiracies. On Sunday (14 August), Gomas finally addressed the incident with a self-recorded video posted to her X account (formerly known as Twitter). And some conspiracy theorists online insist it's not really her. One person wrote, "Who actually believes that this is the crazy plane lady Tiffany Gomas speaking out? Who TF they trying to kid?" – though, he didn't clarify who "they" was. Another person made the claim: "Not only is this not the same person but someone ran a traceroute on her website, tiffanygomas(dot)ćom, and it runs through a Washington DC email. Her IP isn't your standard home internet IP address, mostly likely ran through a government server. This was government created." Meanwhile, a third wrote: "The mystery of whether this is really the person she claims to be can be easily solved if she produces a record of her flight receipt. Just as the lady on the plane did not believe that guy was real- I’m skeptical that this is the real person." Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter In the clip, Gomas apologised for her language, before saying: "We all have our bad moments, um, some are far worse than others, and mine happened to be caught on camera for the whole world to see multiple times." She continued: "Sorry y’all. I hope that I can use this experience and do a little good in the world, and that is what I intend to do, I hope that you guys can accept my apology and I can begin to move on with my life." Gomas did not address her "not real" comment on the flight. One Twitter user hilariously hit back with the question on everyone's mind: "So was that motherf***er real, or no?" OnlyFans model slammed for filming promotional clip with her brother
An OnlyFans creator has caused a stir online after filming a promotional video with her brother. Camilla Araujo, who appeared on MrBeast's famed Squid Game challenge, took to social media with the clip that shows her asking her younger brother what it feels like to have a sister that is on the adult platform. "My friends always ask me if it’s pink, and I don’t really know what they mean by that," the brother responded. The clip was soon shared to X (formerly known as Twitter) where it was inundated with comments from disturbed users. "She gotta go to jail for this one man," one person said, while another added: "Desperate times call for desperate measures." "He better not actually be a brother, I could never agree to do a vid like this let alone have a sister that does OF," a third said. Another quipped: "This generation is doomed" Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Meanwhile, across the pond in London, one OnlyFans creator was bombarded with complaints for her unique advertising methods. It came after billboards promoting a NSFW page were cropping up across London, including in Harrow and Edgware, northwest London and Norwood. One resident was so outraged that they graffitied the OnlyFans advert in North Harrow with the message: "Keep porn off our streets." Another resident, who asked not to be named, said: “I am not making a moral argument for or against pornography, but rather how it is allowed to be advertised in such an unregulated way. “The use of sexualised imagery, although far from ideal, is not my main sticking point, rather, the service advertised is entirely inappropriate for a billboard visible to all. Harrow is a rural suburb of Greater London, not Soho or the red light district of Amsterdam," they continued. Have your say in our news democracy. Tiffany Gomas apologises for ‘crazy plane lady’ moment
Tiffany Gomas, the woman behind the "not real" American Airlines plane rant, has taken to social media to address her viral "crazy plane lady" moment. Last week, the 38-year-old marketing executive from Texas, broke her silence with a brief chat with the Daily Mail outside her home. She told the outlet that her life had become "frightening" since the footage "blown up". "Things go viral and everything changes," she said. "No one knows anyone else’s story, and no one should judge. No one knows what it’s like." "So much of what's out there is inaccurate," she continued, telling the publication she is consulting a lawyer. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Now, Gomas has turned to her X (formerly known as Twitter) account with a candid video addressing the 2 July incident. "My use of profanity was completely unnecessary, and I want to apologise to everyone on that plane, especially those that had children aboard," she said. "We all have our bad moments, um, some are far worse than others, and mine happened to be caught on camera for the whole world to see multiple times." She continued: "Sorry y’all. I hope that I can use this experience and do a little good in the world, and that is what I intend to do, I hope that you guys can accept my apology and I can begin to move on with my life." Gomas also shared a link to her new website where she plans on promoting "mental health and standing up against cyberbullying". Her video was soon flooded with messages of support, with one writing: "Nobody is mad at you - we all thought the plane video was epic and iconic. You have nothing to apologize for." Another added: "On behalf of everyone on that plane and on the internet: I forgive you Tiffany." Meanwhile, a third curious user wrote: "No need to apologize you did everything right by trying to alert other passengers of a perceived threat. I would just like to know what you saw/meant when you said the person was not real." Have your say in our news democracy. Elon Musk is calling Mark Zuckerberg a ‘chicken’ after playing down fight
The world’s two richest tech bros have continued their war of words, after Elon Musk called Mark Zuckerberg a “chicken” for appearing to call off a planned fight between the two. Yesterday, Zuckerberg said he is moving on from a rumoured cage fight with Twitter owner Musk, claiming the Tesla boss “isn’t serious”. Musk responded: “Zuck is a chicken.” The rival billionaire tech bosses seemingly agreed to a brawl in June when Musk tweeted that he was “up for a cage fight”. Zuckerberg, who manages Facebook and Instagram, took a screenshot of Musk’s tweet, replying “send me location”. Musk, owner of social media platform X, formerly named Twitter, appeared to suggest the fight would be held in an “epic location” in Italy. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter He outlined streaming options and an ancient setting for the proposed event, claiming he had spoken to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. However, Zuckerberg yesterday wrote on Threads, his own social media platform: ”I think we can all agree Elon isn’t serious and it’s time to move on. “I offered a real date. Dana White (UFC boss) offered to make this a legit competition for charity. “Elon won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead. “If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on. I’m going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously.” Despite Musk claiming it was actually Zuckerberg backing down, some users of his own platform agreed that the latter might have a point. “Just need to give him a date,” one person said. Another wrote: “Not sure why you think so. He keeps trying to get a time and you keep postponing. Right?” Have your say in our news democracy. New Pokémon Wiglett toy raises eyebrows for obvious reasons
New Pokémon Wiglett toy raises eyebrows for obvious reasons
Pokémon has raised eyebrows and left people in hysterics with the design of the new Wiglett soft toy and it’s easy to see why. In the Pokémon world, Wiglett was announced as a new convergent species related to Diglett for the 2022 Pokémon Scarlet and Violet role-playing video games. It is a type of Garden Eel Pokémon that, with its long cylindrical length, has led to some unfortunate comparisons with the release of a new plushie toy. The Wiglett plushie is sold online by the Pokémon Center, but the long toy has caught the eye for all the wrong reasons as people have suggested it looks like a phallus. The website explains, “this long Poké Plush version of the Garden Eel Pokémon is ready to stand tall as part of your plush collection, perched on your couch, coffee table, or bookshelf”. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter It boasts a “bendable body” that is 10 ¼ inches in length and has drawn some hilarious feedback online. One person wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter): “Ok but who thought this was a good idea.” Many others made similar points. Someone else wrote: “So this Wiglett plush... It's certainly something!” Others were much more NSFW with their commentary. The hilarious plushie may have sparked some rather interesting comments, but despite that, it does seem to resemble the Pokémon character quite closely. Have your say in our news democracy. Island Boys called out by fans for sharing more disturbing intimate content
Island Boys called out by fans for sharing more disturbing intimate content
The Island Boys have sparked further backlash after pushing more inappropriate content that has disturbed fans. The twin sibling rappers, Kodiyakredd and Flyysoulja, whose real names are Franky and Alex Venegas first rose to fame in 2021 thanks to their viral track 'I’m An Island Boy' becoming a hit on TikTok. Now, they are instead turning heads for some questionable OnlyFans content that includes footage of them kissing, sparking backlash. Weeks later, Flyysoulja came out as gay. The brothers have continued to share controversial content, hinting at a NSFW intimate act between the two, but it is suspected that it may not be what it first appears. In a since-deleted video posted on the No Jumper Instagram page, a screenshot appeared to show Flyysoulja taking a selfie in the mirror. In the picture, his brother crouched by his crotch area suggesting that a sexual act was taking place. A large emoji was placed over the intimate area. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The screenshot comes from a video posted by Flyysoulja onto social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that was captioned: “He got skills.” The video showed Kodiyakredd with an object that looked like a carrot or a hot dog, suggesting the video was a prank to trick fans and thankfully revealed he was not near his brother’s genitals. Many were shocked by the Instagram screenshot and suggested that it was a bizarre prank to pull, even if it was fake. One person wrote: “Even if this is fake why on earth would you do thi… never mind.” “Man, what the !!” said another person. “I had to close my phone and throw it away after this dawg”. It seems that Flyysoulja isn’t shy about sharing his junk on the internet, as he recently sparked backlash for exposing himself during a live Kick stream with Adin Ross. Ross reacted: “Alright, that was insane, dude. I can’t believe he just did that. On my life, that was disgusting. On my f**king life. Wow, bro. That is insane.
