Walmart's big summer sale starts a day before and ends a day after Prime Day

One thing about Walmart is that it will never pass up a chance to mess with Jeff Bezos' bottom line.

The big box store is, once again, hosting a huge sitewide sale during (and longer than) Prime Day 2023. Walmart confirmed the 2023 Walmart+ Ultimate Savings Event on June 21 (the same day that Amazon confirmed Prime Day dates), which will run Monday, July 10 at 12 p.m. ET through Thursday, July 13 at 7 p.m. ET. Non-Walmart+ members will have to wait until July 11 to unlock the discounts.

Amazon's sale typically hogs the spotlight this time of year, and perhaps rightfully so. Firstly, its 12-year existence is simply more established. More notably, Prime events often feature unprecedented deals on its own devices like Echos and Fire TVs, as well as big-ticket items like Peloton bikes, souped-up robot vacuums, and OLED TVs, few of which its competitors have managed to replicate. But Walmart's event has two big things going for it:

1. There's no membership fee required to unlock deals. (Walmart+ members just get a head start.)

2. Walmart's event starts the day before Prime Day starts and runs a day past the end of Prime Day.

The event also covers very similar categories to Prime events, ushering deals across its tech, home, and apparel departments.
