A woman has left TikTok users in hysterics after seemingly putting in overtime as she sleeps. Sabrina (@sabrinalodd) took to the platform with a screen recording of an app that monitors sleep quality. It tells users how many times they woke up in the night, and how many hours of rest they had. It also reveals whether a person sleep talks. In the clip that's racked up almost half a million views, Sabrina can be heard speaking about work. "So, let me know if you need anything and, yeah, have a great day," she says at around 1.49am. A few hours later, the TikToker goes back into work mode, saying: "Oh, hi. OK, have a great day everybody." In the last snippet at 3.41am, Sabrina politely signs off an imaginary Zoom meeting, telling everyone "thank you." @sabrinalodd client service voice and all? Inevitably, the TikTok was flooded with comments from fellow users who found Sabrina's upload hilarious. "This is literally working overtime," one person wrote, while another added: "Touch basing in ur sleep." A third joked that Sabrina deserved a bonus "because you're sleeping and still on the clock." It didn't take long for some users to share their own experience with sleep talking. One person shared: "My mom woke me up in the middle of the night once and my response was 'how can I help you?'" Bad news for boozers - alcohol is linked to more than 60 diseases. According to new Oxford University research published Thursday in the journal Nature Medicine, even occasional drinkers were at a higher risk for certain conditions, including more than 30 illnesses not previously linked to alcohol. The researchers studied the effects of alcohol on 512,000 men and women in China for 12 years. 41 per cent of those studied were man and they were all recruited from 10 areas across China and drank at different frequencies. “Alcohol consumption is adversely related to a much wider range of diseases than has previously been established, and our findings show these associations are likely to be causal,” lead study author Pek Kei Im, a research fellow at Oxford Population Health, said in a statement. The remaining 33 had not been established as drinking-related illnesses, including stomach and lung cancers, gastric ulcers and gout. “It is becoming clear that the harmful use of alcohol is one of the most important risk factors for poor health, both in China and globally,” said senior study author Iona Millwood, an associate professor at Oxford Population Health. Scientists are optimistic about the possibility of finding life on other planets. Nasa's James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) found a possible sign of a gas that, on Earth, is produced by simple marine organisms. It was detected this month in the atmosphere of a planet named K2-18b, which is 120 light years away. The planet is in what astronomers call ''the Goldilocks zone' - the right distance away from its star for the surface temperature to be neither too hot nor too cold, but just right for there to be liquid water, which is essential to support life. The team expects to know in a year's time whether the hints are confirmed or have gone away. "We live in an infinite Universe, with infinite stars and planets. And it's been obvious to many of us that we can't be the only intelligent life out there," Prof Catherine Heymans, Scotland's Astronomer Royal told the BBC. "We now have the technology and the capability to answer the question of whether we are alone in the cosmos." Prof Nikku Madhusudhan of the Institute of Astronomy at Cambridge University, who led the study, told the BBC that if the hints are confirmed "it would radically change the way we think about the search for life". "If we find signs of life on the very first planet we study, it will raise the possibility that life is common in the Universe." He predicted that within five years there will be "a major transformation" in our understanding of life in the Universe. If his team don't find life signs on K2-18b, they have 10 more Goldilocks planets on their list to study - and possibly many more after that. Even finding nothing would "provide important insights into the possibility of life on such planets", he said.
