In April 2023, Roborock's latest flagship series — the S8 — made its debut in the U.S. to succeed one of our previous-favorite hybrids, the S7. Two of those models are already on sale in the form of coupons at Amazon: the S8 is $599.99 after a $150 coupon and the s8+ (the "+" signifies automatic emptying) is $799.99 after a $200 coupon. Both discounts are between 20% and 23% off, which is pretty hefty given their short time on the market.
The S8 vacs are better than the older S7 suite and Q7 suite in several ways. The S8 cranks suction power big time, with its 6,000 Pa more than doubling the 2,700 Pa of the Roborock Q7 and 2,500 Pa of the Roborock S7. (Those models are also seeing hefty coupons at Amazon.) The suction boost, in tandem with dual roller brushes spinning inward to dig and force debris into its grasp, allegedly lead to a 30% increase in hair pickup.
SEE ALSO: The newest mopping robot vacuums from iRobot, Shark, and Roborock are all on sale this weekRoborock is also now officially a member of the obstacle avoidance club. The "it" technology of robot vacuum culture as of late uses infrared imaging technology and 3D-structured light to sense obstacles in the upcoming path that are typically too small for less-advanced robot vacuums to notice, like chargers, socks, and pet waste.
Mopping also got more meticulous with the S8. The improved VibraRise mopping system uses sonic vibrations to scrub the floor 3,000 times per minute, and like the S7, will lift the mop off the floor whenever carpet is sensed.
