Threads is finally adding yet another basic piece of functionality, as it attempts to keep users coming back. Meta launched Threads in July, seemingly in a rush to capitalise on particular problems at Elon Musk’s rival Twitter. It appeared to pay off, with the app quickly becoming the fastest growing in history, hitting 100 million users in just five days. But the speed meant that a variety of important features were missing, include a web version of the app and search functionality. In the time since, the user numbers of Threads appear to have fallen off, presumably partly in frustration at the lack of features on the app. Now Threads is adding the latter, so that people will be able to look for posts containing keywords. That functionality is already readily available on Twitter, as well as the main Instagram app. “Get excited – search is coming to Threads,” he wrote on the site, along with a n image of Vin Diesel reading “I bet you gonna enjoy this”. Threads also launched without a following-only feed, allowing people to circumvent the app’s algorithm, which tends to highlight posts from companies rather than people a user follows. That functionality has also been added recently. In the time since it was launched, Meta has been adding many of those features into Threads. Are you questioning your relationship with alcohol? Or perhaps you're concerned about someone in your life? Dr. Dave Nichols - an NHS GP - shared six signs that you may be a "borderline alcoholic" to help you know if it's time to stop. Dr. Nichols spoke to The Sun about what makes someone "dangerously close to the line" of drinking too much. "A lot of people know that they sometimes drink too much, but many don't know where the line is when it comes to problematic alcohol consumption," Dr. Nichols explained. "It describes a pattern of harmful drinking where you may have a drink, or several drinks, every day or regularly binge drink." To help people gain a better understanding of their drinking habits, he shared six signs to look out for: drinking alcohol every day without realising it; binge drinking often; only socialising if alcohol is involved; drinking frequently during the day; finding it irritating when others are not drinking; and consuming more than the recommended government guidelines. The NHS recommends drinking no more than 14 units spread across three days or more. Which equates to roughly six medium (175ml) glasses of wine, or six pints of 4 per cent beer. Dr Nichols warns that borderline alcoholics are at risk of falling into dependence: "While you may not yet have developed a physical dependence to this pattern of drinking, you are at high risk of developing alcohol dependence. "Borderline alcoholics might experience symptoms such as abdominal pain, stress, anxiety, bad skin, trouble sleeping, irritability and higher blood pressure." Sir Paul McCartney said artificial intelligence has been used to create “the last Beatles record”, which is set to be released later this year. The 80-year-old former Beatle said technology was used to extract late bandmate John Lennon’s voice from an old demo and “get it pure” for what he said will be the final song from the Liverpool band. He told Martha Kearney on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that AI is an “interesting thing” and “something that we’re all sort of tackling at the moment” and trying to deal with. “When Peter Jackson did the film (The Beatles) Get Back, where it was us making the Let It Be album, he was able to extricate John’s voice from a ropey little bit of cassette and a piano. He could separate them with AI, he’d tell the machine ‘That’s a voice, this is a guitar, lose the guitar’. “So when we came to make what will be the last Beatles record, it was a demo that John had that we worked on and we just finished it up. It will be released this year. “We were able to take John’s voice and get it pure through this AI so then we could mix the record as you would do. It gives you some sort of leeway.” Sir Paul said there is a “good side” to AI but also a “scary side”. “We will just have to see where that leads,” he said. The singer-songwriter also spoke about his forthcoming exhibition to mark the reopening of the National Portrait Gallery, titled Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-64: Eyes Of The Storm, which incorporates unseen photographs taken by Sir Paul during the early days of The Beatles. The archive features more than 250 images taken between November 1963 and February 1964, which capture the emergence of Beatlemania through the personal lens of Sir Paul’s Pentax camera. The exhibition will run from June 28 to October 1 at the gallery, which has undergone three years of major refurbishment. It features portraits of Sir Ringo Starr as well as late bandmates George Harrison and Lennon, and manager Brian Epstein. Sir Paul said: “It is very poignant, it’s great because, whenever you lose someone, I think your natural thing is ‘Well, we’ve got beautiful memories’, and you hold fast those memories of the good times. “I don’t tend to dwell on the fact that you’ve lost someone. Mark Zuckerberg has said he wants to have a cage fight with Elon Musk, which his fellow tech billionaire appears to have accepted. Mr Musk first proposed a fight earlier this month, writing on Twitter that he was “up for a cage match” after rumours emerged that the Meta boss was working on a Twitter rival. Mr Zuckerberg responded with a screenshot of Mr Musk’s tweet with the caption “send me location”. A spokesperson for Meta confirmed to The Verge that Mr Zuckerberg’s response was not a joke, saying “the story speaks for itself”. Mr Musk named a location on Thursday, replying on Twitter to news of the matchup with the words “Vegas Octagon”, referring to the UFC Apex centre in Nevada. Mr Zuckerberg has previously posted about his martial arts training on Facebook, while also talking extensively about it on podcast appearances. In May, he competed in his first jiu-jitsu tournament, having trained with UFC prospects in the build-up. “Competed in my first jiu jitsu tournament and won some medals for the Guerrilla Jiu Jitsu team,” the 38-year-old wrote on Instagram, alongside some photos of him competing and gold and silver medal emoji.
