FIFA 23 End of an Era Icons were leaked by reputable community sources Criminal__x and Fut_scoreboard on Twitter.
Fut_scoreboard posted that End of an Era Icon cards are coming. There's some speculation around which players will actually be selected for this new player pool. End of an Era cards normally are saved for when prominent players retire from professional play, or leave a club they spent a number of years with. Just this year, we've received End of an Era cards for players like Franck Ribery and Gareth Bale. Combing the card type with Icons opens up the possibilities considering Icons are all retired players.

Some players suspect End of an Era Icons could be players who have retired and might be Icons in future EA FC titles. A player like Zlatan Ibrahimovic comes to mind as a surefire selection for this special card type.
Or, End of an Era Icons could be players who will not be Icons in future EA FC titles. If FIFA 23 is the last time an Icon will appear in an EA Sports title, this would be an apt time to celebrate the player in Ultimate Team.
There's no confirmation for a release date, and whether or not these will be promotional items in packs or released exclusively as SBCs.
