Spider-Man is web-slinging his way to a new streaming service this spring. The streamer? Disney+. The goal? To give Spider-fans access to their favorite Marvel superhero in one place.
You'd think it would be simple to just bundle all the Spider-Man titles together on one platform, but due to licensing rights, the films have been through quite the streamer shuffle. Fortunately, Disney and Sony Pictures made a deal in 2021 to bring Spider-Man and other Marvel properties to Disney Plus — but it's been a long time coming. Some of the films have already run on Disney+ in other countries or even on Disney's sister streaming outlet, Hulu, but this is the first time these films will be available for American Disney+ subscribers. Here's everything you need to know to arrange an arachnid binge-watch.
Which Spider-Man movies are streaming on Disney+?
As of April 21, the first Spider-Man films, aka the Tobey Maguire trilogy (Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, and Spider-Man 3), plus The Amazing Spider-Man (starring Andrew Garfield), are available to stream on Disney+. Spider-Man Homecoming (starring Tom Holland) and Venom (starring Tom Hardy) will join the others on Disney+ on May 12.
Other titles from the Sony Pictures library are expected to premiere on Disney+ in the U.S. later this year. While the announcement didn't list which films specifically, we suspect The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
How to watch Spider-Man for free on Disney+
Disney tends to keep its content under lock and key. The streamer discontinued its free trial back in 2020, but that doesn't mean all hope is lost on watching Spider-Man for free (or at least for a discount) on Disney+. If you're a Verizon Wireless, Verizon Fios, or Total by Verizon customer, you might be able to score a free subscription. If not, you can still subscribe for a discount by choosing an annual subscription or a bundle deal. Disney+ also tends to offer sporadic discounts throughout the year, so keep your eyes peeled. At the time of writing, here are the best Disney+ deals.
Opens in a new tab Credit: Verizon Disney+ Premium (no ads) (opens in a new tab) free with the Total by Verizon $60 plan Check your plan (opens in a new tab)Total by Verizon customers have the best chance of getting Disney+ Premium (no ads) for free. If you're on the $60/month prepaid unlimited plan, you get Disney+ Premium included for no cost as long as you're on the plan. If you cancel or switch to a non-qualifying plan, your Total by Verizon Disney+ Premium subscription will end. If you're on the $50/month prepaid unlimited plan, you get six months of Disney+ Premium for free. This plan is only available with active service for six consecutive months. Six months is plenty of time to watch every Spider-Man movie in its entirety.
Opens in a new tab Credit: Verizon / Disney+ Disney+ Premium (no ads) (opens in a new tab) free for 6 months with eligible Unlimited plans Check your plan (opens in a new tab)Verizon customers with eligible unlimited plans can also score six free months of Disney+ Premium (no ads), however, the fine print is a little bit trickier than with the Total plans. Currently, the only available plans that offer the Disney+ promo are the 5G Do More, 5G Start, Welcome Unlimited, One Unlimited for iPhone plans. If you have the 5G Get More or 5G Play More plan, you're eligible to get the Disney Bundle included for no extra charge. Get More Unlimited, Do More Unlimited or Play More Unlimited plans (which are no longer available) are also eligible for the Disney+ promo. For more information and to check your plan, head over to the Verizon website.
Opens in a new tab Credit: Verizon Disney+ Premium (no ads) (opens in a new tab) free for 6 months or 12 months with eligible Fios home internet plans Check your plan (opens in a new tab)Last but not least, Verizon Fios home internet users can score either six or 12 free months of Disney+ Premium depending on your plan. Those on the 2 Gig Streaming and 2 Gig Complete Package get an entire year of the streamer included, while those on the 1 Gig Streaming and 1 Gig Complete Package get six months of streaming for free. You can check your plan and learn more about eligibility here.
Opens in a new tab Credit: Hulu / Disney+ Disney+ Bundle Duo Basic (Disney+ with ads and Hulu with ads) (opens in a new tab) $9.99/month (save 37%) Get Deal (opens in a new tab)Not a Verizon customer? No problem. The Disney+ Bundle Duo Basic is your next best bet for getting a deal. You can save nearly 40% on monthly subscription fees by bundling Hulu with Disney+. You'll have to watch some ads, but at just $9.99/month for both streamers, I'd say it's worth suffering through a few ads per hour of content. Plus, Hulu has some incredible exclusive content to discover after you finish up your Spider-Man binge-watching. Disney+ is usually $7.99 on its own, as is Hulu (with ads) — so, the bundle effectively gets you one at full price and the other for just 2 bucks per month.
Opens in a new tab Credit: Disney+ Disney+ Basic (ad-supported) (opens in a new tab) $7.99/month Get Deal (opens in a new tab)If you're looking for the most straightforward way to watch all of the Spider-Man movies on Disney+, sign up for a single month of Disney+ Basic (ad-supported) for $7.99 and cancel before the month is up. It won't save you any money, necessarily, but it will get the job done.
Which Spider-Man movies aren't streaming on Disney+?
For the time being, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Venom: Let There Be Carnage remain on Starz, but it's possible these films will join the others on Disney+ later this year. If you want to start your Spider-Man binge-watch before that, you can score a free seven-day trial of Starz. After your week-long trial, you'll be charged $8.99 if you forget to cancel.
Opens in a new tab Credit: Starz Starz (opens in a new tab) free 7-day trial Get Deal (opens in a new tab)Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is currently only available to rent or buy on digital retailers or to watch on live TV streaming services like Hulu + Live TV, DirecTV Stream, fuboTV, or Sling.
